The "Ish Hours"

The "Ish Hours"

You’ve seen our hours since we first opened the shop in 2014: “10ish-6ish.”

It’s not because we aren’t punctual.

It’s a little deeper than that.

…A little…

I’d be lying if I said that, in the early days, there weren’t some mornings when we just didn’t wake up in time. We were sleeping on the floor of the shop and the late night that was split between twofers at the Brass Ring and printing shirts in the basement of the shop caught up to us. We would sell out of shirts by day and we’d spend most of the night printing, re-stocking, and drinking a beer or two…or three... In the morning, we’d hear customers knocking on the door and check the time to find out that it was 10:30.

Oops.

Other days were just too beautiful to not be on the lake.

We do love working. You kind of have to in order to start your own business.

But we also love Lake George, Trout Lake, the Pinnacle, and the countless other spots that were the inspiration behind starting a business that pays tribute to upstate New York and the great outdoors.

We’ve made memories, business deals, and friends as a result of getting out and enjoying the beautiful place where we grew up and now live. You’ll find some of the best Locals at the top of a mountain, offering to share their bug spray with you as they see you being victimized by Mosquito Season.

There were definitely some growing pains that first summer. We overslept, we closed early, we ran out of product regularly. But we also never lost sight of why we started Local: Our favorite Adirondack spots and our favorite Local people. When you have a chance to get outside and enjoy both at the same time, you just have to take it. Work isn’t going anywhere.

That being said, we’ve grown, made some changes, and we’ll see you tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., sharp.
